The Jaguar E-Type was introduced in 1961 as the successor to the XK 150. It was released as a 2-seat coupe and also in 2-seat convertible version. A 2+2 coupe version also followed from 1966. The E-Type featured independent suspension and power disc brakes on all wheels. Surely that was unique at the time. The basic motorization was a 3.8-liter inline six-cylinder, but there was also the more powerful 4.2-liter engine. This one also had more comfortable seats and improved brakes.
From 1969 to 1971, Series 2 were then built with headlights without the double glass cover to prevent condensation. There were also improvements to engine cooling, brakes and the tail lights were also modified.
"Collection by Vermant" is very pleased to present to you this fully restored 1969 E-Type 4.2 Series 2. The E-Type is equipped with a 4.2 inline six-cylinder with 3 carburetors, producing 195 kW / 265 hp and 411 Nm of torque at 4000 tr/min. With a weight of only 1275 kg, this obviously guarantees great performance and lots of driving pleasure. The E-Type drives and brakes very well and can still compete smoothly in daily traffic.
The car was originally delivered in the US and re-entered Europe via France. The previous Belgian owner had the Jaguar fully restored between 2017 and 2020. The restoration was carried out at the renowned specialist Retro Cars in Temploux. A complete file of this is available with invoices for more than 150k €. Really everything on the car was overhauled, repaired or renewed in its original state.
A recent 2020 expert report assessed this Jaguar as concours condition and/or top collection piece. The market value after restoration was then estimated at €185,000.
For those looking for a legendary sports car, this E-Type that is as good as new will certainly guarantee many more years of driving pleasure.
