For Sale: Volkswagen T1 SO42 Westfalia – 1966 – Restored in Top Condition – Matching Numbers
I proudly offer: my rare and completely restored 1966 Volkswagen T1 SO42 Westfalia Camper, featuring the iconic “pop-top” design, and originating from sunny California. This bus is in near-new condition and has been restored with love and craftsmanship.
This German beauty began its life in Long Beach, California. In 2005, the bus was brought to the Netherlands by BBT. The base was already in excellent condition and has hardly ever been welded. In 2014, the bus was sold to an enthusiast who was a professional restorer for a living. He restored the bus over a period of 3 years, preserving original details. Consequently, the bus is truly sleek and a magnificent sight.
The interior has remained almost entirely original. It is evident in every detail that this bus has been restored with great love and craftsmanship.
The floor, wheel arches, bumper mounts, all the seams—it is simply perfect. No misery or shoddy workmanship anywhere.
The chassis is rust-free, the bodywork is sleek and features a high-quality paint finish. Technically, the bus is in absolute top condition – ready for carefree use or for a collection.
In 2020, the bus was already appraised at €70,000.
Since the appraisal, it has hardly been driven and certainly never camped with. A real shame, of course!
Consequently, it has never seen water in the form of rain again; the few times it did get wet were during washing. Appraised at €77,500 in 2025.
Documents from California, a birth certificate, and an appraisal report are present. Specifications & Features:
