Questa Austin-Healey 100 M uscì dalla linea di produzione nel dicembre 1955 e fu consegnata al suo primo proprietario in Oregon, Stati Uniti come uno dei modelli 100 M costruiti direttamente in fabbrica, come attestato dalla documentazione ufficiale, incluso il certificato del British Motor Industry Heritage Trust.

Nel 2016, John Wilson, proprietario di Healey Lane Restoration e all’epoca proprietario della vettura, la vendette a un collezionista con l’accordo di restaurarla secondo gli standard di certificazione Gold dell’Austin-Healey Concours Registry. Durante il restauro, lo specialista Austin-Healey Peter Nesbitt revisionò completamente motore, cambio, trasmissione, overdrive e ponte posteriore.
Il processo di restauro è documentato fotograficamente, e l’auto è accompagnata dalle certificazioni, dal report dei lavori eseguiti, dal kit attrezzi originale e dalla relativa documentazione.

Introdotta nel settembre 1955, la Austin-Healey 100 M portava su strada gli aggiornamenti prestazionali delle vetture vincenti in gara, applicati a un modello di produzione limitata. Solo 640 esemplari furono ufficialmente costruiti in fabbrica, con registri telaio OEM che confermano l’autenticità delle vetture, distinguendole dalle BN1 e BN2 successivamente equipaggiate con il Le Mans Engine Modification Kit.

La 100 M presentava numerosi aggiornamenti rispetto alla BN2 standard, tra cui carburatori maggiorati, una scatola filtro aria più ampia, un albero a camme ad alta alzata e pistoni ad alte prestazioni, contribuendo a migliorare prestazioni e risposta del motore.
Sviluppata sotto la direzione di Donald Healey, con carrozzeria disegnata da Gerry Coker e sviluppo tecnico guidato da Geoff Bilbie, il modello combinava costruzione leggera e agilità di guida, segnando l’inizio della linea “Big Healey”.

This Austin-Healey 100 M rolled off the production line in December 1955 and was delivered to its first owner in Oregon, U.S.A. Finished in black and red with a red leather interior, this example is one of the factory-built 100 M models, as verified by official documentation, including a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate.

In 2016, John Wilson, owner of Healey Lane Restoration and owner of the car at the time,sold it to a collector, with the agreement that he would restore it to meet the Gold-level certification standards of the Austin-Healey Concours Registry. During the restoration, Austin-Healey specialist Peter Nesbitt overhauled the engine, gearbox, transmission, overdrive, and rear axle.
Photographs document the restoration process, and the car is accompanied by its certifications, restoration records, side curtains, a jack bag, toolkit, and related literature.

Introduced in September 1955, the Austin-Healey 100 M brought the performance upgrades of the race-winning cars to a limited-production road model. Only 640 examples were officially factory built, with OEM chassis records confirming genuine cars, distinct from BN1 and BN2 models later fitted with the Le Mans Engine Modification Kit.

The 100 M featured several upgrades compared to the standard BN2, including larger carburettors, a wider air intake box and filter, a high-lift camshaft, and high-performance pistons, contributing to improved performance and responsiveness.
Developed under the direction of Donald Healey, with body design by Gerry Coker and engineering development led by Geoff Bilbie, the model combined lightweight construction with agile handling and marked the beginning of the “Big Healey” lineage.
