Paul Bracq's 2nd design for BMW: The first 3-series - Here as Baur's TopCabriolet variant
This 1979 BMW 323i Baur TC in factory Zypressengrün-Metallic (Cypress Green) is now available.
'It's 4 cars in one'What a beautiful and original BMW E21 3-series Baur. The E21 3-series came to market from 1975 on and it was Paul Bracq's second design for BMW after the E12 5-series. What a great, modern car with excellent packaging for 1975. This is a series II E21 with the different taillights, mirrors and dashboard. It's top model: the 323i with the fuel-injected 2,3 liter M20 inline six producing 143 HP.
This BMW 323i was produced by BMW in Bavaria and then converted by 'Karrosserie Baur' in Stuttgart. Ordered in the beautiful color of 152 Zypressen Grün Metallic / Cypress Green Metallic. Timeless. First owned by Mr. Günter Lesser (born 1921) from Baden-Baden and first registered on the 23rd of November 1979. In 2004 the car changed hands to his son. In 2009 a gentleman from northern Germany had bought the car and brought it back to life. The car comes with the original registration from 1979 as well as the owner's manual and Baur TC owner's manual.
The car shows no rust and has a very clean and original undercarriage. Clean and original floors and sills. It shows the original bodywork: front fenders never been taken off, original doors, panels and lids. Amazing. The body is beautiful. Very straight, nice and solid. The Zypressengrün paint is in fantastic condition. The chrome bumpers are nice, straight and showing excellent chrome. The mouldings on the doors as well as the seals are in good condition. This car has been garage kept for a long long time. The trunk is clean and original.
Then the engine bay, very original and correct. Its shows all original paint in the engine bay and no rust. The original decals are present: Yes, this is what a rust-free, 93.000 kilometers car should look like. The 2,0L M20 engine is the original unit - matching numbers. The engine starts up nicely and runs smooth. The timing belt was replaced in 2022. The 4-speed shifts very easily, lightly and precise.
The interior was upgraded with genuine Scheel-Mann seats, period correct. The interior was nicely reupholstered in light beige genuine leather. Seats, doorpanels and back seat.
The convertible top is in exellent condition and appears to be original. Both the foldable, rear top as well as the detachable flat panel. The latter can be stowed away in the trunk. The plastic rear window is still nice and clear and the tonneau cover is original and present.
The car drives very well! It sits on a new set of Eibach springs and a set of genuine 13 inch Alpina wheels with fresh 2023 date coded tyres. In 2024 we have performed a service with the following;
